Signalment and history:
An three year old 65 lb female spayed Doberman Pinscher is presented to you one hour after the owners found her lying by the road. She apparently escaped from the back yard and was missing for about two hours. She is non-weight bearing on one forelimb, which was swollen with a small wound over the radius.
Physical examination:
There was crepitation and instability on palpation of the radius. The dog is dyspneic with pale mucous membranes and a slow capillary refill time. There are no other orthopedic injuries noted. The owners love this dog and are willing and able to perform any treatment and management which you recommend.
