Signalment and history:

A healthy, 8 month old, 80 lb, male GSD who got caught in a discarded piece of farm machinery while he was running with the owner is presented six hours after injury.

Physical examination:

The dog is carrying the left rear limb. There is swelling around the tibia and palpable crepitus and instability of the tibia. The owner is retired and this dog is his whole life. He is willing to do any after care you suggest.
