The laboratory welcomes three new members!
Johanna Mettler is joining the laboratory as a visiting scholar. Johanna is a veterinary medical student in Brazil and will complete her 5-month research internship at UIUC studying a novel mRNA-based cancer vaccine strategy.
The laboratory welcomes Uma Iyer, a UIUC undergraduate student in the biochemistry program. Uma will focus on optimizing canine neutrophil isolation procedures and their modulation ex vivo.
The laboratory also welcomes Dr. Paige Weiss, a small animal rotating intern. Dr. Weiss will establish our institutional workflow to fabricate personalized 3D printed devices that will allow us to collect minimally invasive brain tumor biopsies in dogs.

July: Welcome Dr. Nicholle Ross
The laboratory welcomes Dr. Nicholle Ross (medical oncology resident and master’s student)! She will investigate the effect of metronomic chlorambucil on regulatory T cells and tumor vasculature in dogs with soft tissue sarcomas.

Morris Animal Foundation Veterinary Student Scholar Award
Brianna Moore received a Morris Animal Foundation Veterinary Student Scholar Award, which will allow Brianna to gain more intensive hands-on research experience in the summer of 2024
