She hopes to work at an exotic animal hospital in Chicago after graduation. Eventually, Melanie would like to establish her own nonprofit mobile veterinary clinic to provide services to low-income communities in Chicago.

Naomi is a first-generation Latina student who was born and raised in Chicago. She knew she wanted to be a veterinarian when she started an animal rescue group at age 12. Now in her third year of veterinary school, Naomi is close to accomplishing her dream. She hopes to open an innovative animal hospital that serves all companion animals and provides mentorship opportunities for underserved students interested in veterinary medicine.
