Naomi is a first-generation Latina student who was born and raised in Chicago. She knew she wanted to be a veterinarian when she started an animal rescue group at age 12. Now in her third year of veterinary school, Naomi is close to accomplishing her dream. She hopes to open an innovative animal hospital that serves all companion animals and provides mentorship opportunities for underserved students interested in veterinary medicine.

Erica, a third-year student from Chicago, Ill., graduated from the number one public historically Black university, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State. She plans to work at a small animal general practice in Chicago where she can incorporate her passions of small animal reproduction and minority outreach.
