Melanie, a third-year student from Chicago’s South Side, is interested in small animal and zoo companion animal medicine, with the possibility of practicing in zoo medicine, emergency, or rescue. She hopes to work at an exotic animal hospital in Chicago after graduation. Eventually, Melanie would like to establish her own nonprofit mobile veterinary clinic to provide services to low-income communities in Chicago.
