Melissa Buettner
Melissa, a fourth-year student from Saint Cloud, Minn., is interested in small animal general practice and surgery. She will be returning to central Minnesota after graduation to start her career.
Tess Cummings
Tess, a fourth-year student from Danforth, Ill., will be completing a year-long equine internship at Northern Lakes Equine Practice in Illinois after graduation. She plans to practice in a rural area, primarily caring for equine patients with the occasional camelid or small ruminant mixed in.
Mikayla Diedrick
Mikayla is a fourth-year student from Daggett, Mich., with a special interest in ruminant theriogenology. She hopes to pursue a career in mixed animal practice where she can help bridge the gap between animal and human health by ensuring a safe and fruitful food supply while maintaining excellent animal welfare.
Paige Meily
Paige is a fourth-year student from State College, Pa. After graduation she will join a small animal general practice in Massachusetts. She is interested in all aspects of small animal medicine and is looking forward to seeing a variety of cases.
Kaitlyn Nance
Kaitlyn, a fourth-year student from Highland, Ill., is interested in equine and small animal medicine. She will be completing a one-year equine internship after graduation.
Kara Scolman
Kara, a fourth-year student from Denver, Colo., has a master’s degree in biomedical science from Colorado State University and has research experience in equine sports medicine. She is interested in small animal medicine and plans to complete a small animal rotating internship after graduation. She is interested in specializing further in neurology and neurosurgery.
Caitlin Strozewski
Caitlin, a fourth-year student from Mount Prospect, Ill., earned a degree in neuroscience from Tulane University before coming to veterinary school. She is interested in small animal general practice, with focus on surgery and feline medicine and plans to return to the Chicago area to practice.
Rachael Surowiec
Rachael is a fourth-year student from Buffalo, N.Y. She is interested in a career in academia, where she can combine her passions of diagnostics, research, and teaching. She will start an anatomic pathology residency at the University of Tennessee after graduation.
Corrine Thomas
Corrine, a fourth-year student from Lexington, Ky., plans to pursue a small animal rotating internship and subsequent board certification in neurology and neurosurgery. Throughout veterinary school she has been active in oncology research within the laboratory of Dr. Tim Fan. She also held leadership positions in the diagnostic imaging and behavior clubs, because she is passionate about those aspects of veterinary medicine.

Kelly, a fourth-year student from Glenview, Ill., is interested in general
practice, emergency medicine, shelter medicine, and equine
medicine. She is hoping to narrow down her passion through clinical
rotations during her fourth-year and pursue a job in the Chicagoland
or Washington, D.C., area after graduation.
