Angela Bella
Angela, a first-year student from Tinley Park, Ill., is primarily interested in working with small animals in eith a general practice or ER setting. She has gained interest in wildlife medicine after volunteering in the Wildlife Medical Clinic. She plans to practice around Chicago after graduation unless her interest in specializing takes her elsewhere.
Holly Black
Holly, a first-year student from Rockton, Ill., graduated from the University of South Dakota. She hopes to combine pathology and public health in her future career. This summer she will use her extensive research experience in tick ecology and tick-borne disease as a fellow in the Midwest Center of Excellence for Vector-Borne Disease.
Naomi Esquivel
Naomi was born and raised in Chicago, Ill. A second-year student, she is on her way to becoming Dr. Esquivel. She hopes to create opportunities for underserved minority students interested in veterinary medicine and to work closely with animal rescues and animal shelters. Her career goal is to open an innovative animal hospital in Chicago that serves all companion animals.
Jessica Franz
Courtney Wangler
Courtney, a third-year student, grew up on a dairy farm in West Branch, Mich., and plans to practice in rural Michigan. She spent the past few years working in swine research and completing externships focused on equine and dairy medicine, including a month-long rotation in Stephenville, Texas, at the Signature Equine Hospital. In her final year, she hopes to have rotations in bovine palpation and equine lameness.
