AUGUST 2011 EDITION

FROM THE DEAN

Classes are in full swing here now. For the 129 members of the Class of 2015, the first week of clinical rotations is ending, and seven new clinical areas await them in September and October. Last week, first-year students had the opportunity to attend a full-day program, the Illinois Veterinary Leadership Experience, to help them get acquainted with each other and with life at vet school. Organized by upperclassmen, iVLE focuses on three secrets to surviving and thriving in the next four years: embrace a collaborative outlook, don’t take yourself too seriously, and choose to be happy. I’d say those are guidelines we could all benefit from.
