Statement on Supportive College Environment

Jan 31, 2017 / Message from the Dean

Dear Veterinary Medicine family,

I write to affirm the messages sent out by President Killeen on behalf of the University of Illinois System as well as by Chancellor Jones and Provost Feser to our campus.

At a time when members of our campus and university community are negatively affected by the recent executive order on immigration, our college stands with these individuals. We value and respect all members of our community and will ensure an environment of inclusion for all students, faculty, and staff at the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Ours is a nation of immigrants, founded on acceptance of people of all cultures and religions. Our university thrives within an international community of scholars. Our college embraces diversity as a vital part of our excellence and as a key component in achieving global impact.

I am asking each and every one of you to contribute to a supportive environment for all members of our college family, regardless of their nationality or religious beliefs.

Peter Constable
