Discussion of Needs for CT or CT/PET scanner

Jan 3, 2018 / General News

Please RSVP for this Lunch Discussion

On Wednesday, January 10, from 11:30 am to 1 pm, the College of Veterinary Medicine will host a presentation by Siemens regarding options for CT and CT/PET scanners. A Siemens representative will provide information about capabilities of the scanners and will answer questions about the technology.

The purpose of this meeting is to gather information on the cost-benefit of enhanced CT/PET technology as the college pursues installation of a Varian TrueBeam® linear accelerator. The CT currently in place at the college’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital will not be able to engage the gating function on the linear accelerator; upgrading our CT capability to a 64-slice CT is not in the capital plan at this time.

The lunch meeting on January 10 will assess initial interest in enhancing CT/PET capabilities at the college in order to determine whether a more detailed cost-benefit analysis is needed. All ideas and interests are welcome.

Who Should Attend?

  • Faculty members within or outside the veterinary college who have knowledge of CT/PET technology and its potential application on our campus, both for patient care and for research uses

What Is the Goal?

  • To evaluate the efficacy of this technology for the patients that we treat as well as our ability to fund such an expenditure

Meeting Details

  • Wednesday, January 10, 11:30 am to 1 pm, Room 80 in the basement of the Small Animal Clinic
