“Rex Hess's research focuses on male reproductive pathology, endocrinology and toxicology. Specific interests include testicular growth and development, estrogen regulation of the male reproductive tract and spermatogonial stem cell regulation. The laboratory has been a leader in the study of STAGES of spermatogenesis and their utility in the study of testicular pathogenesis. Major studies in recent years have focused on the presence and function of estrogen receptors in the male reproductive tract and Sertoli cell regulation of stem cell self-renewal. He has served the scientific community as Secretary and now Treasurer of the American Society of Andrology.”

“Megan Mahoney's lab investigate the interaction between the endocrine and circadian timekeeping systems. Thee determine the impact of gonadal hormones and endocrine disruptors on behavioral and neural rhythms and how disruptions of the circadian clock (jet lag, shift work) decrease reproductive function in females.”

“The long-term goal of Qiao laboratory will be to understand how post-translational modifications, such as SUMOylation (Small Ubiquitin-like Modifier) and ubiquitination, regulate a range of checkpoint pathways in mammalian cells. Our approach will take advantage of skills I have developed in mouse genetics, proteomics, electron microscopy, super-resolution microscopy, and spermatocyte/oocyte culture. ”

“The Reddi Lab studies transcriptional regulation of spermatogenesis. They generate transgenic and knockout mouse models to understand how defects of germ cell differentiation lead to male infertility. The long term goals are to develop 1) novel treatment options for male infertility, and 2) reversible, non-hormonal male contraceptives. ”
