We just were awarded another grant. We are looking for markers of early detection ovarian cancer and then also examining dietary influences on ovarian cancer.”

The importance of food intake to our survival necessitates the contribution of multiple systems in controlling energy homeostasis. Our lab investigates how nutrients interact with the gastrointestinal tract to change overall physiology and behavior as measured by alterations in absorption, hormonal and neural signaling. Our research is driven by the idea that there are differences in these physiological factors between lean and obese individuals and in trying to find the most efficient route by which to manipulate these systems in order to achieve decreases in appetite and improvements in metabolic disorders.
