We are interested in how infiltrated peripheral immune cells in the CNS under autoimmune and infectious disease conditions trigger CNS neuronal damage and how CNS neuronal damages under neurodegenerative diseases impact peripheral immune systems. In addition, we are also interested in how environmental (stress, toxicants, etc.) and biological factors (steroid hormones, aging, etc.) impact autoimmune, infectious, and neurodegenerative diseases via modification of immune and neuronal systems to identify the specific mechanisms of these diseases under the individual situations. Further, we are interested in translational and drug discovery studies based on our findings in the basic sciences.
