Epidemiologist Comments on Bird Flu in Indiana

State Journal-Register (Springfield, Ill.; Jan. 21) – Much like human flu, the avian influenza virus tends to be a fall-winter disease that mutates season to season, according to Yvette Johnson-Walker, a clinical epidemiologist with the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. The latest outbreak is a different strain from the virus that devastated flocks last spring and summer, she said.
