COVID Vaccine Priorities

The Chronicle of Higher Education (March 30) – Rebecca L. Smith, a professor of pathobiology who works on the U. of I.’s coronavirus-testing strategy, says more-vulnerable people should get vaccines before college students. “Personally, I would much rather see the vaccines go to those marginalized communities who are put at risk because of systematic issues in access to health care, as well as their work requiring them to be in person and in contact with other people,” she says. “It’s about protecting the people who have less choice about being high risk for infection.”
