Criteria: Preference given to students from west central Illinois. If no incoming student meets the criteria, then the scholarship may be given to an existing first year.

Benjamin Rogers
Ben, a first-year student from Springfield, Illinois, earned his bachelor’s degree in animal sciences from the University of Illinois. He is interested in swine production medicine as well as research and hopes to work for a large-scale production system or in government and public health. Given the essential nature of production animals in the human food supply, Ben is motivated to contribute to the health and welfare of animals as a veterinarian.

Shelby Harrison
Shelby, a second-year student from Middletown, Illinois, is interested in mixed animal practice and specializing in dentistry and maxillofacial/oral surgery. She aims to combine these interests to help as many species as possible. She works part-time at the college's South Clinic and a local restaurant and has gained veterinary experience through an externship at Sploot Veterinary Care in Denver, Colorado, and shadowing a clinician at the Large Animal Clinic.

Maggie French
Maggie is a second-year student from Mt. Pulaski, a small town in central Illinois. Her interest is large animal and food animal medicine, particularly regarding beef cattle production and reproduction. She plans to pursue work at a rural mixed animal practice in an area of the Midwest with a veterinary shortage.
