Criteria: For financial need. Preference shall be given (in order of priority) to students who: (1) are active with a UIUC LGBT Resource Center affiliated student organization, (2) have made significant contributions to the LGBT community, (3) are committed to making UIUC a more open environment for LGBT students, or (4) who otherwise increase diversity within the unit.
Samantha Johnson
Samantha, a third-year student from Tucson, Arizona, has volunteered in the hospital’s oncology service and worked in a cancer research laboratory to achieve her goal of being a veterinary oncologist. As a veterinary student she has also been active in low-cost vaccine clinics, wildlife rehabilitation centers, the college’s tutoring program, the national non-profit known as VOICE, and the Wildlife Epidemiology Laboratory.
