Print Color

These are instructions for color printers that have the default set to print in black & white where the user wants to override and print in color. Individual departments may have their own policies regarding color printing, ask your supervisor if not sure.

Xerox Printers

Windows Instructions (Mac Instructions In-Progress)

The print menu looks a little different depending on which application you are printing from (examples, Word, Adobe PDF, web browser), but in each case:

  1. Look for an option to go to Printer Properties, or More Print Options.
  2. Once in the Xerox print GUI, select the first tab, Printing Options.
  3. Find Xerox Black and White.  This will say "On" for printers that have this set as the default.
  4. To print Color, select "Off (Use Document Color).  This setting will be remembered until the application is closed and restarted next time, when it will return to the default.

Note:  For purpose of managed printer contracts, such as with RK Dixon, if something is printed in Color mode, even if the pages do not contain color elements, it is counted as color printing and charged at the higher rate.

Examples:

Word:  Print > Printer Properties > Printing Options > Xerox Black and White > Off (Use Document Color)

Adobe PDF:  Print > Properties > Printing Options > Xerox Black and White > Off (Use Document Color)

Chrome:  Print > Color > Color
