The Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care service is rapidly expanding, and our new facilities support this growth. We are looking for new faculty members to assist with our fast-paced emergency room and contribute to the clinical instruction of veterinary professional students.

Our service currently has:

  • 2 full-time boarded criticalists
  • 4 ECC residents
  • 2 ECC specialty interns
  • 9 small animal rotating interns

The service is additionally supported by over 30 certified veterinary technicians, including three that are VTS (ECC) certified, multiple veterinary assistants, and an ECC service specific business manager to assist with administrative duties.

We care for a robust caseload from both walk-in and referral patients using state-of-the-art equipment in our newly renovated facilities.

  • Brand-new spacious facility for 24/7 ER and ICU, with state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapeutics, on-site blood bank, and conveniently located radiology suite
  • Special equipment: 6 oxygen cages, Siemens Maquet Servo-i and Puritan Bennett mechanical ventilators, Vapotherm Precision Flow Hi-VNI, Viscoelastic Coagulation Monitor, Nova Prime Plus, continuous ECG, direct & indirect blood pressure, oxygen saturation, capnography, temperature monitoring, and telemetry system
  • Hemodialysis service for blood purification and advanced renal support to launch within next 6 months
  • Intermediate care ward for hospitalized patients that do not require constant monitoring and separate urgent/convenient care service for non-emergent patients (9a to 6p)

We’re Investing in Our Programs

Over the past six years we’ve invested more than $20M in facilities improvements, including the addition of:

  • A 9,000 sq ft small animal surgery wing with 8 ORs, including an interventional radiology suite
  • A state-of-the-art linear accelerator and a new 128-slice CT to support its use
  • A 3T MRI
  • A new facility for small animal primary care, zoological medicine specialty service, and our Wildlife Medical Clinic
