Our Cardiology Team Is Growing!

Join our collegial team focused on delivering outstanding care, educating future veterinarians, and advancing cardiology.

Become the third cardiologist on our outstanding clinical cardiology team. We currently have two full-time board-certified cardiologists, three residents (in our ACVIM-approved residency program), one full-time research intern, and two cardiology technicians.

In addition to providing clinical care to patients, the successful candidate will deliver clinical and didactic instruction to veterinary students, mentor interns, and teach in the veterinary curriculum.

At Illinois, you’ll also have opportunities to collaborate in the areas of biomarker discovery, advanced cardiac imaging, 3-D printing, clinical trials, and interventional research. We are actively advancing clinical, applied, and translational research through collaborations with world-class scientists at the University of Illinois.

You’ll find every amenity needed for a modern, innovative cardiology service at the University of Illinois:

  • Four dedicated ultrasound units (2- GE Vivid E95, 1- GE Vivid I, and 1- Siemens Acuson S2000)
  • 3D transthoracic and transesophageal capabilities
  • Digital ECG
  • Digital telemetry
  • Digital Holter units
  • Dedicated interventional radiology (IR) surgical suite for minimally invasive procedures equipped with Siemens Artis fluoroscopy C-arm, 3D integration, transesophageal fusion imaging, and a Siemens Sensis hemodynamic monitoring and procedure workflow station

We’re Investing in Our Programs

A $12 million hospital-wide renovation and expansion project wraps up in 2021. Over the past six years we’ve added:

  • A 9,000 sq ft small animal surgery wing with 8 ORs, including an interventional radiology suite
  • A state-of-the-art linear accelerator and a new 128-slice CT to support its use
  • A 3T MRI
  • A new facility for small animal primary care, zoological medicine specialty service, and our Wildlife Medical Clinic
