College Reproduction Experts Aid Rare Donkey Breed

WAND-TV (Sept. 21) – Dr. Giogia Podico has been working with five Poitou donkeys owned by Bari Fisher, a woman from northern Vermont. Fisher wants to help conserve this rare breed, so she brought them donkeys to Illinois veterinary experts to breed them. Dr. Podico, a veterinarian specializing in fertilization, said these donkeys have one of the lowest fertility rates in the world. There are about 500 in the world and 70 in the United States.
