Dr. Labelle completed her three-year residency and master's degree program in comparative veterinary ophthalmology here at the University of Illinois in 2010 and achieved board certification by the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists that same year. She briefly joined the faculty at The Ohio State University before returning to Illinois as a faculty member.
Before settling into an ophthalmology specialty, Dr. Labelle started out focused on horses. She completed an equine internship at BW Furlong and Associates in New Jersey after earning a veterinary degree at the University of California, Davis. Then she worked in an equine ambulatory practice in Long Island, N.Y., for two years while she was also completing an ophthalmology internship at Animal Eye Clinic in Norwalk, Conn.
When she's not teaching, seeing patients, or researching solutions to eye problems in animals, Dr. Labelle throws her passion into photography. One of her favorite photo subjects is her adorable pug, Dexter. She also enjoys three-day eventing.
