Dr. Alastair Kay graduated from the University of Liverpool in 1998. He then worked in equine private practice for 4 years before working in specialized referral practices in Newmarket (UK) and Lexington (KY). He completed an equine surgical residency and master's degree at The Ohio State University in 2008. In 2009 Dr. Kay was accepted into the American College of Veterinary Surgeons as a Large Animal Surgeon and since that time has worked as an equine surgeon in referral institutions and private practices in the US and UK, dealing with mainly race and sports performance horses.
Dr. Kay has a wealth of surgical and diagnostic experience in all aspects of lameness and poor performance. In addition to surgery, Dr Kay is available to perform weanling and yearling sales consultations and pre-purchase evaluations at the Large Animal Clinic. Dr. Kay is interested in all aspects of equine surgery, including upper airway and orthopedic surgery, especially those related to the foal and adult performance horse.
