Following are common solutions for problems with the Okidata label printers. If you cannot get the printer back on line, please use one of the other clinic label printers (see this link for locations and numbers of alternate printers) and notify vetstar help for service.

• Make sure that the Select light is on (labelled 'SEL' on the front of the printer). If not, press the Select button on the left front of the printer to put the printer back on line.
  
  
• Make sure the labels are being drawn the bottom of the printer. The lever at the top right of the printer should be set at the 'BOT' position.
  
  
• If the labels are not being drawn up, check that the bottom tractor guides are firmly clamped in place. If that doesn't help, park the labels, power off the printer, and look for and remove stuck labels (if this is not easily accomplished, please contact vetstar-help and report the problem. Please do not dismantle the printer).
  
  
• Never try and move the paper position using the platen knob with the printer powered on. If you do, you will lose the Top of Form setting.
  
  
• If the labels are out of alignment, use the following instructions to adjust the Top of Form (taken From Okidata Knowledge Base Doc #: 3157).
  
  

1. Turn printer ON.
   
   
2. Load paper and press FF/LOAD button.
   
   
3. Press the SELECT button to ensure printer is Off-Line. (Select light goes off).
   
   
4. Press and hold TEAR button. (Paper will go to default TOF).
   
   
5. Keep holding TEAR button. While still holding TEAR button, press and hold SHIFT button and release TEAR button.
   
   
6. Keep holding SHIFT button.
   
   
7. As you continue to hold SHIFT button, press the MICROFEED UP or MICROFEED DOWN button, depending on which direction you want to move the paper to align TOF.
   
   
8. Release the MICROFEED button once you have reached the desired TOF and continue to hold the SHIFT button.
   Note: The first line will begin printing at the red line of the plastic shield on the printhead.
   
   
9. While still holding SHIFT button, press the TOF button a few times to set the new Top of Form position.
   
   
10. When the TOF is set at the correct position, release all buttons. Press the Select button to re-select printer. (Select light comes on).

2. Load paper and press FF/LOAD button.



3. Press the SELECT button to ensure printer is Off-Line. (Select light goes off).



4. Press the SHIFT button and while continuing to hold SHIFT, press the MICROFEED UP or MICROFEED DOWN button, depending on which direction you want to move the paper to align TOF.



5. Release the MICROFEED button once you have reached the desired TOF and continue to hold the SHIFT button.
   
   
6. While holding SHIFT, press the TOF button a few times to set TOF. When the TOF is set at the correct position, release all buttons.
   
   
7. Press the Select button to re-select printer. (Select light comes on).
