99 Admissions Pool Strong
"We have a lot of really good candidates with high academics and relevant experience," says Dr. Gerald Pijanowski, associate dean for academic and student affairs, "but we also received applications from candidates who are naïve about what the veterinary profession entails, which means we need to do a better job educating high school students about the field."
The Admissions Committee will review about 830 applications that meet all requirements. About 240 are from Illinois residents, for whom 80 of the 100 freshman slots are reserved. The others are from out-of-state candidates. A total of 200 candidates will be invited to the recruitment program in Urbana on February 25 and 26.
This year, 15 interview teams, composed of a faculty member, current upperclass student, and practitioner/mentor, will evaluate all finalists.
