New Officers for ISVMA
The 1999-2000 Board of Directors of the Illinois State Veterinary Medical
Association took office on February 7 at the 117th annual meeting held
in Springfield. Dr. Roger K. Mahr (Iowa ’71) now serves as president, with
Drs. Raymond O. Hill (Kansas ’51), president-elect; Richard Hull (Missouri
’59), past president and AVMA delegate; Lawrence M. Fox (’68), treasurer;
Delores C. Lipton (’79), Board chair; and George E. Richards (’67), alternate
AVMA delegate. Also serving on the Board are Drs. Kenneth W. Albrecht (’67),
William L. Augustine (’75), Emil E. Baukert (’76), Thomas E. Eurell (Florida
’83), Thomas P. Greiner (Iowa ’65), Jeaneyl Hazlett (Iowa ’75), Kevin W.
Kackley (Missouri ’84), David P. Lott (Iowa ’64), Glenn D. Mayer (’77),
Perry F. Pollock (Iowa ’70), David R. Reed (Iowa ’80), and Samuel M. Ristich
(’84).
Dr. Gayle Brown (’86) completed her Ph.D. in immunobiology from Iowa
State University in May.
Dr. Bob Bohacek (’74) is the owner of the Oakwood Hills Animal Hospital
in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, one of 12 practices selected to receive the international
Practice of Excellence Award for 1999. Sponsored by Veterinary Economics
magazine and Pfizer Animal Health, the award recognizes exemplary care
and service. Dr. Bohacek commends his staff of 16 for their motivation
and commitment to the health of the pet. His small animal hospital, praised
for its staff training and protocols, will be featured in the September
1999 issue of Veterinary Economics.
Dr. Chet Rawson (’68), of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, took office as president
of the Wisconsin VMA in October. He has previously served as president
of the Southwest Wisconsin VMA, the American College of Theriogenologists,
and the Society for Theriogenology. Dr. Rawson was raised in Illinois.
His father was a veterinarian.
