OTS Update
The 5th Annual Road Race, sponsored by the Omega Tau Sigma veterinary fraternity, attracted a record 247 entrants and raised $4,000. The race, held September 13, was dedicated to the memory of Lisa Coole, a veterinary student killed in a car accident May 16 as she set out for Peoria to adopt a greyhound. The event raised money for Canine Companions for Independence, which provides service dogs for individuals with handicaps. Fifty-five DVM students volunteered to make the race a success.
In mid October, many OTS members also traveled to the Annual Grand Council in Michigan, while others hosted a get-together of OTS alumni in Urbana for Annual Fall Conference. Other activities of the group include monthly visits with pets to local nursing homes, pet wash fund-raisers, and social events.
