Pantagraph (Bloomington, Ill.: May 5) – After nearly five years of guiding Nicole Yarmolkevich, who has low vision, as she completed her graduate studies, Flash the service dog must retire because he is losing his eyesight. Yarmolkevich took Flash to a veterinarian for an ear infection on April 14. But the vet saw other problems and sent them to the University of Illinois, where it was found Flash was suffering from retinal degeneration and the beginning of cataracts.
