“Rex Hess's research focuses on male reproductive pathology, endocrinology and toxicology. Specific interests include testicular growth and development, estrogen regulation of the male reproductive tract and spermatogonial stem cell regulation. The laboratory has been a leader in the study of STAGES of spermatogenesis and their utility in the study of testicular pathogenesis. Major studies in recent years have focused on the presence and function of estrogen receptors in the male reproductive tract and Sertoli cell regulation of stem cell self-renewal. He has served the scientific community as Secretary and now Treasurer of the American Society of Andrology.”
