Research and professional interests:

Under the mentorship of Dr. Kuhlenschmidt and working with Dr. Saif in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering department, we will be evaluating the adhesion strengths of different cancer cells with varying degrees of metastatic potential.  The hypothesis is that cells alter their adhesiveness depending on cell density or cellular environment.  We then hope to correlate these adhesive strengths with expression of specific cell adhesion molecules, which ultimately may open avenues for anti-metastatic cancer drug development.
