July 10-11, 2010
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
This program has been cancelled.
Participants should have a basic understanding of minimally invasive surgery equipment, cannula placement sites, and techniques used in both laparoscopic and thorascopic minimally invasive surgery. A brief review will be presented, but this course will be aimed at developing skills and more advanced techniques. The technique for performing various laparoscopic, lap-assisted, thorascopic, and scope-assisted thoracic procedures will be presented along with case examples. Pigs will be used in the laboratory and participants will have the opportunity to perform such procedures as cholecystectomy, organ biopsy, adrenalectomy, and scope-assisted gastropexy. Thoracic procedures will include partial and complete lung lobectomy, pericardiectomy, and thoracic duct ligation.
Registration is open to veterinarians and their technicians. Technicians must register with a veterinarian; veterinarians can register as an individual.
