Hands-On Opportunities
Laboratories and workshops require an additional registration fee and are not subject to refunds. Should a program not meet minimum registration requirements by Monday, September 3, 2012, it may be cancelled. If the program is cancelled, registrants will be notified and all registration fees associated with the program will be refunded in full.
All hands-on opportunities will be held at the College of Veterinary Medicine. A shuttle will be provided for all registrants of these programs.
Contemporary Techniques in Canine and Feline Dentistry

This laboratory will offer both lecture and hands-on learning. Dr. Stephen Juriga will lead the morning lectures on client compliance, normal anatomy and recognition of oral pathology, everyday dental decisions, nerve blocks and analgesia, and surgical extraction. The afternoon will offer hands-on learning on radioogy and dog and cat extractions.

This hands-on laboratory will offer a review of common cytologic specimens from dogs and cats.
Clinical and Microbiological Updates: Superficial Fungal Infections in Dogs and Cats

This laboratory will cover the most up-to-date information on superficial fungal infection in dogs and cats with a particular emphasis on dermatophytosis and yeast infections. Both microbiological (epidemiology and identification techniques) and clinical (clinical signs, diagnosis, and therapeutic options) updates will be addressed. During the hands-on portion of the lab, participants will participate in the cytological identification and the most common cultural techniques for yeast and dermatophytes.
