Dental and oral pathology occur frequently in cats and can be a major source of discomfort for our feline patients. This intensive four hour course includes a one hour lecture and a three hour laboratory in feline dentistry.
The lecture portion of this course will be delivered in an interactive format that enables participants to anonymously test their knowledge base in feline dentistry and oral pathology. Topics that will be reviewed include:
- Introduction to feline dental anatomy and radiography
- Periodontal disease
- Tooth resorptive lesions
- Fractured teeth
- Mandibular swelling
- Perialveolar osteitis
- Feline oral neoplasia
The laboratory portion of this course will give participants an opportunity to perform feline dental extractions including practicing the creation of mucoperiosteal flaps for full quadrant extractions as in the treatment of feline gingivostomatitis, practice performing crown amputations in the treatment of tooth resorptive lesions, and practicing taking and evaluating full mouth feline dental radiographs.
Registration is open to veterinarians and their technicians. Technicians must register with a veterinarian; veterinarians can register as an individual. Maximum enrollment is 10 persons per session.
