Presidential Pet Parade to Entertain People Who Love Pets
URBANA, Ill. - Webster White has invited about 100 friends to his place for a Homecoming-themed party. His home just happens to also be the home of University of Illinois President Joseph White and his wife Mary. Webster, of course, is their dog.
On Thursday, Oct. 5, the Whites' residence, 711 West Florida Ave., Urbana, will be the site of a fund-raiser for the College of Veterinary Medicine's CARE Pet Loss Helpline. The fun-filled party is called "Oskee Bow Wow"---a party for people who love pets.
The event, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., celebrates the human-animal bond. The highlights will be a Homecoming Pet Parade, which begins at 6:45 p.m. The festivities will also include a spirited Illini trivia game, live birds of prey from the college's Wildlife Medical Clinic, and an "Ask the Experts" table featuring veterinary specialists from the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
The CARE Pet Loss Helpline is a student-run service initiated that responds to the emotional needs of those grieving the death or impending loss of a cherished pet. For more information see www.cvm.uiuc.edu/CARE/.
