Annual Open House Slated for October 6

On Sunday, October 6, the state's only veterinary college one of only 28 veterinary schools in the United States will open its doors to the public.

Whether you hope to become a veterinarian someday, or are simply fascinated by animals, the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine Open House has something for you.

Ever wondered why horses wear shoes? Check out the farrier demonstration in the Large Animal Clinic.

Want to find out how dogs recuperate after surgery? Visit the underwater treadmill demonstration in the Small Animal Clinic.

Aspiring veterinarians should attend Open House, as there will be a discussion on the admissions process. Learn about different career opportunities and continuing innovations to improve human lives.

In all, there will be more than 40 exhibits, demonstrations, and hands-on activities, involving plenty of animals, for all ages. Open House is free and open to the public; registration is not required.

The event begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. The College of Veterinary Medicine, located at 2001 South Lincoln Avenue in Urbana, is easy to find.
