Dr. Thomas Graves Named New Chicago Center Director

The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois is pleased to announce that Dr. Thomas Graves, associate professor of veterinary clinical medicine, has been named as the new director of the Chicago Center for Veterinary Medicine/Furnetic, effective September 20, 2010.

In addition to his responsibilities in Chicago, Dr. Graves will continue his activities in teaching and departmental leadership in Urbana. Dr. Rosemary LoGiudice, who has served as interim director since the Center's inception in 2009, will be returning to private practice. The College gratefully acknowledges Dr. LoGiudice, says Dean Herb Whiteley, for her excellent leadership in guiding the Chicago Center and Furnetic during the formative stages of the program.

In establishing the Chicago Center for Veterinary Medicine, the state's only veterinary college exponentially expanded its ability to pursue a mission of education, service, and discovery. The Center acts as an umbrella organization for our teaching, research, and public engagement initiatives in the Chicago area. With the ability to reach more animals, more animal owners, more prospective students, and more research collaborators, the college can create more partnerships to make us better at what we do.

Located at 2242 West Harrison Street in Chicago, the Center provides selected specialty referral services through clinicians based at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Urbana as well as specialists based at the center. Specialties currently offered include oncology, behavior, and canine rehabilitation.
