Configuring Directory Services for Outlook

This page explains how to configure Microsoft Outlook to search an electronic directory of CVM personnel and the UIUC campus.

1. Login to Microsoft Outlook and select the Tools menu.

2. In Outlook 2003, Select Email Accounts from the Tools menu. In Outlook 2007, Select Account Settings from the Tools menu and choose the Address book tab

3. In the Directory section select the option for Add a new directory or address book. Click Next. In Outlook 2007 select the new icon.

4. Select Internet Directory Services (LDAP). Click Next.

5. Type in ldap.cvm.uiuc.edu for the Server Name and click on More Settings button. Leave the Logon Information unchecked.

6. In the Connection tab of the Microsoft LDAP Directory ensure the Port is set to 389.

7. In the Search tab of the Microsoft LDAP Directory type in dc=cvm,dc=uiuc,dc=edu for the Search Base.

8. Click OK to save the Directory Service entry.

You may repeat the process to add the UIUC campus LDAP directory service.
Note the changes to Step 5 and Step 7 below:

5. Type in ldap.uiuc.edu for the Server Name and click on More Settings button. Leave the Logon Information unchecked.

7. In the Search tab of the Microsoft LDAP Directory type in dc=uiuc,dc=edu for the Search Base.
