Midwest Association of Veterinary Pathologists (MAVP)

[MAVP]

The Midwest Association of Veterinary Pathologists (MAVP) is an informal group of veterinary pathologists who live in the Midwest (region of the United States) or live elsewhere but attend MAVP meetings. Pathologists in academia, private industry, diagnostic laboratories, and in training programs (residents) are included. There are no membership dues.

The association hosts an annual diagnostic pathology meeting with an emphasis on histopathology along with some cytology. Thirty-five annual meetings have been held and future meetings are scheduled. The meetings typically are held the second week of August (Thursday and Friday) in conference facilties at a resort or state park. Some pathologists bring their families and continue to enjoy the park over the weekend following the meeting. Prior to the meeting, diagnostic material from the cases being presented is collected and distributed to all presenters. The diagnostic material is usually microscopic slides and occasionally kodochromes. Typically 75 to 100 pathologists attend and 40 to 50 cases are presented.
