Kummerow’s Dietary Research Gains Acceptance, Again

Feb 17, 2015 / In the News

Dr. Fred Kummerow, comparative biosciences, has been saying for decades that foods containing saturated fats and cholesterol are not inherently harmful to heart health. At last the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee apparently agrees: it is recommending to the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Agriculture that the nation’s nutrition guidelines no longer caution consumers about cholesterol-laden foods. A similar scenario played out when Dr. Kummerow warned for decades against trans fats, and the FDA only recently labeled trans fats as not “generally recognized as safe” for use in food.
