Endothelin-2 in hair follicle

The purpose of this project is to investigate the function of EDN2 in the epidermis, specifically its potential role in the maintenance of melanocyte stem cells within hair follicles. I will examine the spatial and temporal expression of EDN2 in the epidermis of mice via fluorescent microscopy using a novel transgenic mouse (edn2-GFP) and other relevant methods. I will also conduct microsurgeries involving skin transplantation, in which skin tissues from edn2 knockout mice would be grafted onto wild-type mice, so as to observe how the loss of EDN2 expression would impact hair/skin growth/pigmentation over longer period of time.
