MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN

Blue Coat CeremonyFrom the Californian interested in our wildlife/exotics program to the New Jersey resident with a background in research to the bioengineer from Northwestern University, our Class of 2012 encompasses a diverse and accomplished group of individuals.

Of these 120 new students, 88 are Illinois residents and 98 are women. Three-quarters are between the ages of 22 and 25, and 6 percent are over 30 years old.

Their undergraduate institutions include Colorado State, Florida State, Iowa State, Michigan State, and Texas A & M. Illinois colleges attended include Augustana College, Eastern Illinois University, Southern Illinois University, and the University of Illinois at Chicago. Almost one-third did their undergraduate studies here on the Urbana campus.

I am proud to welcome these future colleagues in the veterinary profession. I encourage alumni to get involved with students through mentoring activities, hosting students through primary care rotations in your practice, and supporting our scholarship programs.

For more information on these opportunities, write to me at dean@vetmed.illinois.edu.--Herb
