FROM THE COLLEGE

Dean Peter ConstableDespite the cold weather, the college gave a warm welcome to Dean Peter Constable this month. Dr. Constable started his academic career in the college’s food animal section in 1993 and served on the Illinois faculty for 13 years, departing in 2006 to head the veterinary clinical sciences department at Purdue University. Dean Constable earned his veterinary degree in Australia, and practiced in Australia and England before completing an internship, residency, and master’s and doctoral degrees in cardiovascular physiology at The Ohio State University. He is boarded in internal medicine and nutrition.

NEW CLINICAL TRIAL FOR COUGHING DOGS

dogOur imaging service is currently seeking coughing dogs with at least a grade 3/6 cardiac murmur for a study comparing imaging modalities for the evaluation of the size and wall thickness of the major airways (trachea and bronchi) and the size of the left atrium of the heart. Dogs that qualify will receive a thorough physical exam, mini chemistry panel, 5 view thoracic radiographs, thoracic CT, peripheral blood pressure, ECG, and an
echocardiogram free of charge. All results will be sent to referring veterinarians for their records.
