MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN

April is one of the best months for the College of Veterinary Medicine.

It's the month we chose for our annual faculty-staff fund-raising campaign because it's the culmination of so many activities of the academic year. The campaign theme this year, "Providing Excellence at Vet Med," acknowledges the many areas that members of our College community make contributions to our mission.

Highlights in April include:

  • Today our budding scholars present their clinical and basic science research during Phi Zeta Research Day.
  • The celebration of students and the donors who support them at our annual awards and scholarships luncheon tomorrow.
  • Vet Med Open House, on Sunday, April 11, when more than 300 students help showcase our College and hospital.
  • The White Coat Ceremony on April 25, recognizing the students' rite of passage into their final year of clinical rotations.
  • Opportunities to earn continuing education credit from our faculty experts in Chicago and, virtually, online.

I hope you'll take time this month to visit our "Excellence at Vet Med" blog and become our Facebook fan to join the dialog about what makes this place stand out.--Herb Whiteley

Throughout the month of April, we will be posting our "points of pride" on our new blog.
