Diego Almeida

Diego Almeida is a farrier instructor at Midwest Horseshoeing School, which was acquired by the college in February.

Using roughly 10 words or less, describe what your role at the college is:
Provide farrier training to aspiring horseshoers and farrier service to horse owners.

What is your favorite part of your job?
I love to shoe horses, learn anatomy and physiology, and make horseshoes. The best part of the job is to see the progress the students make towards the end of the course when they finally start to do things on their own. It is also very rewarding to see former students at clinics, contests, and certifications.

Complete this sentence: My most memorable day at work was….
The day I was able to shoe a complete horse by myself right after graduating horseshoeing school. The job took forever and it was not that great, but nevertheless it gave me a great feeling of accomplishment.

What would your coworkers be surprised to learn about your life outside of work?
I am a former musician and enjoyed playing blues music every once in a while.

Do you have any pets?
No, I do not have a pet right now. I do love dogs and horses but I am constantly on the road and I do not think it would be fair to have a pet and not be able to spend time with it.
