Professional Interests: Evaluation
of in vitro metabolism using 1H NMR. I am interested in a metabonomics
approach to the study of in vitro metabolism. Most metabonomics research
focuses on perturbations in biofluids (plasma and urine) derived from
in vivo toxicology studies. My current research focus is to study the
use of 1H MAS NMR in detecting dermal metabolism in intact cultured skin.
Clinical toxicology. My current research is focused on the canine grape/raisin
renal failure syndrome. To date, much about the syndrome is not known, including
the toxic principle in grapes/raisins, the pathophysiology of the syndrome, if
there are susceptible individuals or phenotypes, or if there are toxigenic varieties
of grapes. I am interested in pursuing this research for the development of preventative
and therapeutic measures.
