American Veterinarian (Feb. 28) – Anne Barger, DVM, MS, DACVP, clinical professor in pathobiology at University of Illinois, says the most common time veterinarians perform lymph node aspiration is when the lymph node is enlarged. But the other time you should aspirate a lymph node is if the animal has another kind of tumor and you’re worried the tumor may have traveled to the lymph node.
