- BASS VIRUS
- Sarasota Herald-Tribune (by way of The Associated Press; Fla., Feb. 5) -- A virus is suspected of infecting bass in a lake in Lakeland, Fla. If the presence of the virus is confirmed, it would be the first known instance of it in Florida. The same virus has killed thousands of fish across the country. Tony Goldberg, a U. of I. professor of veterinary pathobiology, says warmer temperatures and fish crowding seem to activate the virus.
