Business Services Overview

Jackie Dalzell J. Dalzell, Director – Administrative budgeting/tuition projections, reporting and oversight for College financial services and staff; D. Rawlings, K. Pound, M. Swanson – Accounting and purchasing for self-supporting service centers, grants & contracts, gifts, ICR and state funds, appointment processing and reconciliation, payroll, & leaves; C. Bushman – Filing, & data processing.

The Business Services’ office serves the Dean’s Office; Academic and Student Affairs; Administrative Services; Advancement; Public Engagement; Research and Advanced Studies; Veterinary Programs in ACES; Agricultural Animal Care and Use Program; the Chicago Center for Veterinary Medicine; and the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory providing human resource, accounting, and state budgetary support for these units.  Business Services provides oversight and policy development for the financial and human resource activities in the academic departments and service units.  All University, Campus, and agency financial and human resource reporting and auditing is managed in this office. Business Services help with department business staff and computing services staff to develop and support complementary business systems to augment Banner in order to maintain or expand tracking and reporting capabilities for agency and/or accreditation reporting.

The financial staff members provide budgeting, accounting, purchasing, billing, processing, self-supporting service centers, and financial reporting services for all College administrative units and oversight of the FY08 $18.6 million College-wide state budget.  This staff oversees the Campus budget allocation process,  manages state and indirect cost accounts, College-wide grants, purchasing and processing of day-to-day fiscal operations, prepares budgets and monitors expenditures to prevent cost overruns, provides extensive external reporting to Campus and national agencies, as well as, responding to audits.
